    HOUSTON - The American Athletic Conference will make its football debut in Houston Oct. 12 as Houston hosts Memphis at BBVA Compass Stadium in a game that will be nationally televised by ESPNews the conference announced Monday. Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m.

    The game will mark a pair of firsts as it will be Houston's first appearance on ESPNews and its first game at BBVA Compass Stadium, home of MLS' Houston Dynamo and one of three stadiums in Houston that UH will play home games in 2013 while its on-campus stadium is constructed.

    The two teams have met 21 times with Houston owning a 12-9 edge including wins in the last three meetings. UH owns a record of 5-4 vs. Memphis in Houston.


    Houston enters its second and final bye week of the season with a 4-0 record, the eighth time in program history the Cougars have started 4-0 and will be looking to move to 5-0 for just the fifth time in program history. The Oct. 12 meeting with Memphis will be the Cougars second American conference game as they sit atop the American standings after defeating Temple on Sept. 7 in Philadelphia.

    A limited number of single-game tickets remain for the Memphis game with remaining tickets beginning at just $37. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance as a sellout is anticipated for the 22,000-seat stadium.

    Fans can also purchase Houston Football three-game mini-plan packages beginning at $95. Fans can purchase a mini plan for a ticket to three of the five following home games - Oct. 12 vs. Memphis, Oct. 19 vs. BYU, Oct. 31 vs. USF, Nov. 23 vs. Cincinnati and Nov. 29 vs. SMU. Packages start at just $95 for a selection from games involving Memphis, USF, Cincinnati and SMU. For packages involving Houston's game vs. BYU, the price is set at $105.
