HOUSTON - The University of Houston's Student-Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC), in conjunction with Conference USA, announced today its "Let's SAAC Hunger" drive that will run from Oct. 26 to Nov. 1. The group is looking to replicate its 2011 effort when it led all Conference USA schools in the drive with 22,448 pounds of donated food.

This year, SAAC has set a goal of collecting over 25,000 pounds of food in the conference-wide contest that is based on weight of food collected.

Houston fans can donate to the drive beginning on Oct. 26 when it hosts Rice in both volleyball (5 p.m.) and soccer (7 p.m.). Fans who bring at least five canned food items to either event will receive half-price admission to the game.

Gate 3 of Robertson Stadium offers the setting for the second opportunity to donate canned goods as fans attending Saturday's game vs. UTEP at 3:30 p.m. can receive a voucher for a free popcorn at the game with the donation of at least five canned goods.

Fans who would like to donate to the cause between Oct. 29 to Nov. 1 can drop off canned goods at the University of Houston Athletics Communications office, located on the second floor of the Athletics/Alumni Center at 3100 Cullen Blvd.
