HOUSTON--The University of Houston football team practiced in shorts and pads, Wednesday, in preparation for their CBS College Sports national televised game against Conference USA-rival Tulane. The game will be played at Robertson Stadium on Saturday at 7 p.m.

"Practice was upbeat, and full of energy and excitement. The team is excited for homecoming and a national TV audience," head coach Kevin Sumlin said.

As part of the homecoming festivities and events, Sumlin gave a speech at the Go Coogs! Day pep rally. There, he talked about the excitement of returning to Robertson and homecoming. The team and the coaches are excited to return to home and take part in homecoming and a national televised game.

"With the game being on national TV, we want to create an atmosphere for people to watch and that people will like. We are excited to have a home game again. We have only had two this year so far," Sumlin said.

Fans can hear the game live on 790 AM The Sports Animal with Tom Franklin calling the play-by-play action, Ted Pardee providing color analysis and Chuck Brown reporting from the sideline. The pregame show is slated to begin one hour before kickoff.

In addition, the game will be televised live on CBS College Sports (DirecTV channel 613/Dish Network 152) with Tom Hart calling the play-by-play action and Trev Alberts providing color analysis. It will be the second of several Cougar games to be televised in 2008.
