ESPN College GameDay built by the Home Depot is coming to the UH Campus Nov. 18-19 and Cougar fans are encouraged to come out and show their support for the nation's 10th-ranked football program!
Below is some information to assist you as you plan on coming over for this historic on-campus celebration.
GameDay will set up on the Cullen Circle, adjacent to the Cullen Performance Hall and the University Center, beginning Thursday morning. The show will go on air Friday at various times throughout the morning with live hits and fans are encouraged to come out to see the set and the crew.
The Saturday morning show gets started at 8 a.m. on ESPNU and continues on ESPN from 9-11 a.m. There are two primary locations for fans to watch GameDay on Saturday. ESPN will open a "Pit" right behind the stage, which can accommodate approximately 300 fans. This is a controlled area and food, drink, backpacks and signs on poles are prohibited in this specific area. This area will be opened to fans at 6 a.m., two hours before the start of the show.
The second area is just behind the ESPN "Pit" and is the large area of fans often seen on GameDay broadcasts. Fans are encouraged to bring signs in support of UH Football and fans will have free access to move throughout the Cullen Circle and surrounding areas.
ESPN will provide sound and large video screens to allow thousands of fans to see andhear the show regardless of location on the Circle.
UH and ESPN will have security on location, so any signs displaying offensive language or deemed to be in poor taste will be confiscated, so let's not only show the country we are some of the best and most creative fans in America, but also some of the classiest as well!
|When Should I Arrive?|
Come early and celebrate this incredible achievement. Only 12 schools get an opportunity to host ESPN GameDay each year and this is a first for the UH campus. GameDay will let the first 300 fans into its "Pit" right behind the stage, but there will be plenty of space on the Cullen Circle and in front of the Cullen Performance Hall for fans to see the show.
Camping will be prohibited, but fans arrive as early as 4 a.m. to welcome the GameDay crew to campus!
The UH community is encouraging fans traveling into Saturday's game to park in their normal game day locations. If you have a reserved parking pass for the game, we ask that you park in your designated lot and walk over to the set, which is located next to the University Center. Parking will be available at 5 a.m.
Cash (single game) parking will also open at 5 a.m. These lots around the GameDay set are $10
Cash lots located the Game Day site are lots 20A and 1B/1E. They are located on Calhoun Road and University Drive.
If you are a student and live on campus, the set is located next to the Moody Towers.
Limited parking will be available in the UH Welcome Center Parking Garage for fans driving in specifically to see ESPN GameDay. The Welcome Center Garage is located at the intersection of University Drive and Calhoun Road. Fans may also park in the cash lots around the stadium and campus as well.

HOUSTON- The University of Houston is pleased to announce that ESPN's College GameDay is coming to the UH campus for the first time in school history next Saturday (Nov. 19), in conjunction with the 2:30 p.m., regular-season home finale vs. SMU. Many details will follow throughout the week, but Cougar fans of all ages are encouraged to display their support for the show during its stay in town.
"This is an incredible opportunity for the nation to see what is taking place at the University of Houston," Director of Athletics Mack Rhoades said. "We thank ESPN and Home Depot for this outstanding event and we salute the work of our student-athletes, our coaches, our staff and our fans for making this event a reality."
UH officials are working with ESPN on location details, which will be announced as soon as they're available, likely early Monday. The show will originate from the UH campus on Friday (noon to 2 p.m. CT) as well as the Saturday show which runs from 8-11 a.m. CT. Fans are invited to come out to the activities on both days and show the country their support for the nation's No. 11-ranked program.
"This is part of the championships culture we are building here at the University ofHouston," Head Coach Kevin Sumlinsaid. "Not just on the field, but for our student-athletes in the classroom, in the community and the involvement of our fans and alumni, this is what we have all worked towards. This is an opportunity to show the country what UH Athletics is all about."
Houston is one of just five undefeated teams remaining in college football and is coming off a 73-17 win on Thursday at Tulane. UH is scoring points and racking up yardage at record rates. The 2011 Cougars are averaging 628.8 yards per game this season, the most in NCAA history. The team is also scoring 54.7 points per game, the most since Army (56.0 ppg) in 1944.
Tickets for Saturday's game are sold out. Cougar fans will witness the final regular-season home game for a senior class that includes school and NCAA record holders Tyron Carrier, Patrick Edwards, Case Keenum and Marcus McGraw.
