Houston's OC Kliff Kingsbury Earns Honor

Kliff Kingsbury was named a finalist for national offensive coordinator of the year.

Nov. 21, 2011

Houston, Texas - Houston Co-Offensive Coordinator Kliff Kingsbury was named a finalist for the FootballScoop.com's Offensive Coordinator of the Year Award on Monday. Kingsbury has helped mentor a Houston Offense that is averaging 618.3 yards per game in 2011, which is the second highest yardage output per game in NCAA history.

Kingsbury joins Oklahoma State's Todd Monken, Baylor's Philip Montgomery and Clemson's Chad Morris as award finalists. Previous winners of the award include Kevin Wilson, Bryan Harsin and Gus Malzahn.

UH leads the nation in total offense, passing offense and scoring offense in 2011. Highlighted by the play of Heisman Trophy Candidate Case Keenum, Houston is off to its best start in school history and is one of just two remaining unbeaten teams in college football. The 11-0 Cougars are coming off a 37-7 victory against SMU and hosted ESPN College GameDay for the first time in program history last week.

Winners of the FootballScoop.com coaching awards will be announced on Dec. 5. A panel of Division I coaches will select the award winner and nominations for the award also come from other Division I coaches.
