HOUSTON, Texas - University of Houston senior defensive tackle Jake Ebner and sophomore quarterback Case Keenum on Thursday were named to the 2008 Conference USA Football All-Academic Team.

Led by a trio of graduate students, the team also consists of three seniors, five juniors, two sophomores, and a redshirt freshman. A student-athlete must have a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and be a starter or key reserve on the football team to be eligible. Houston, Memphis, Rice, SMU and Tulsa landed two student-athletes apiece on the 14 member team, while Marshall, Southern Miss, Tulane and UTEP each had one.

Keenum is a redshirt sophomore and owns a 3.23 GPA in kinesiology, while leading the nation in both passing yardage (4,768) and total offense (4,993), as well as leading the conference in touchdown passes (43). Keenum has thrown for over 300 yards in 13 consecutive games, establishing a Houston record in the process. The Abilene, Texas, native already has set career highs in every passing category.

Ebner, a senior defensive tackle and a two-time ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI First-Team selection, is a double major in marketing and finance. The Friendswood, Texas native tied for second on the team with two fumble recoveries and two pass break-ups while maintaining a 3.54 GPA.

The Cougars finished the season with a 7-5 record, and a 6-2 mark in C-USA, which was good for second place in the West Division. Houston is bowl eligible for the fourth straight season and awaits its bowl placement upon the conclusion of the C-USA Championship game this Saturday that pits Tulsa against East Carolina.
