Houston, Texas - Houston Athletics announced discounted student tickets and travel options for the Jan. 2, 2012, TicketCity Bowl game vs. Penn State. Gallery Furniture owner Jim McIngvale, along with the Student Fees Advisory Committee (S.F.A.C.), have worked together to provide a 40-percent discount on tickets as well as free transportation to the game for students.

Ticket prices have been reduced from $75 to $45 for UH students and the student sale begins Wednesday (Dec. 7) at 8 a.m. Tickets, which will be located behind the UH bench, may only be purchased in-person and are limited to one per student with a valid student ID. Students who wish to be seated with a particular group will be able to make that request at the time of purchase. Groups are limited to a maximum of twenty people. Student guest tickets will be available for $75.

UH students who purchase tickets through the UH Ticket Office will also have the option of riding on a game day bus free of charge thanks to an Student Fee Advisory Committee allocation designated for bowl travel. Buses will leave Houston (departure location is being finalized) the morning of Jan. 2 at approximately 5 a.m. and will return following the game. Student guests who purchase their tickets through the UH Ticket Office may also purchase a seat on the bus for $40. The deadline to reserve a seat on the bus is December 20.

Houston is completing a historic 2011 campaign, which has seen the program win a school-record 12 games and rise to unprecedented heights in the Bowl Championship Series standings. UH students and fans have also made this an incredible season with their support, breaking the Robertson Stadium attendance record for a second consecutive year. UH also finished the 2011 campaign by breaking the single-game attendance mark at Robertson Stadium in back-to-back games (vs. SMU and Southern Miss).

Game time in Dallas at Cotton Bowl Stadium is scheduled for 11 a.m. Penn State enters the game 9-3 overall and 6-2 in Big Ten play. The two clubs will meet for just the third time in series history and for the first time in postseason play.
