HOUSTON, Texas - Just two days after receiving national recognition for his outstanding freshman season, University of Houston running back Bryce Beall picked up another post-season honor when he was named to the Sporting News All-Freshman Second Team.

A true freshman, Beall was named Second Team, Freshman All-America by College Football news earlier in the week.

Named the Conference USA Freshman of the Year last week, Beall set a Houston record for rushing yards by a freshman, rushing for a team-high 1,112 yards and 12 touchdowns for the 7-5 Cougars. Beall also added 30 receptions for 404 yards and four scores, topped 100 yards rushing five times and finished the regular season with 96 points to pace UH.

Beall also was named to the Honorable Mention, All-C-USA squad and was selected Conference USA All-Freshman.

The Cougars return to action on Wednesday, December 31, when it squares off in a rematch with Air Force in the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas. Kickoff at Amon G. Carter Stadium on the TCU campus is slated for 11 am and will be televised live by ESPN.
