NFL.com: O'Korn Looking to be an Elite QB
By: Bryan Fischer, 24/7 CFB Writer

John O'Korn, sophomore, Houston Houston has had a number of quality quarterbacks and O'Korn appears to be next in line. A terrific freshman season earned him AAC Rookie of the Year honors after he threw for 3,117 yards and 28 touchdowns in just 11 starts. He's 6-foot-4, 225 pounds and surprisingly mobile. O'Korn has a strong arm, and showed off good anticipation when dropping back and excellent accuracy. He should continue to get better, and the Cougars' offense should allow us plenty of chances to see him throw.

Balanced Houston One of The American's Best

College Football Countdown: #38 Houston

"What's clear is that Houston seems to possess the best balance of any team in Levine's short tenure. The defense stands among the top three in the conference. The offense may end up being the best, particularly in the passing game, but the Cougars do need to make a stronger commitment to running the football - the running game will never be UH's greatest strength, but Jackson and Farrow must be viewed as two key cogs in the overall attack. Perhaps the best aspect of the offense is its potential: O'Korn, for example, is only going to improve during his second full season as the Cougars' starter." - USA TODAY Sports

Houston Football officially kicked off the 2014 season with a welcome back luncheon, a press conference introducing the newest member of the Cougars in 15-year old Jacolby Rogers and wrapped up Aug. 1 with a team meeting, led by head coach Tony Levine.

Fifteen-year old Jacolby Rogers Joins Houston Football Program

Photo Gallery | Press Conference

The Houston Football program announced the signing of 15-year old Jacolby Rogers Friday afternoon in the Carl Lewis Auditorium on the Houston campus. Head coach Tony Levine was on hand to welcome Jacolby, his mother, Wilores Johnson, Jacolby's twin sister, NaTaschia, and older brother, Christopher, as Jacolby signed his letter of intent to officially join the Cougars.

Jacolby was diagnosed with Renal Disease in 1999 at the age of one. He underwent a kidney transplant six months later. Unfortunately, by the age of three his body had rejected the transplant, and he has been on dialysis since. Although his dialysis treatments are three times a week, every week, year round, he never complains and is a true fighter. His condition is chronic, and he is on a transplant list, waiting for a donor.

In signing his letter of intent to join the Houston program, Jacolby agreed that his favorite football team is the Houston Cougars and that he will wear red on every Cougar Red Friday and every Houston gameday.

As a member of the Houston Football program, Jacolby agreed to provide his best effort in school and will give the Houston staff updates on his academic progress throughout the year. He also agreed that in addition to his twin sister, NaTaschia, and older brother, Christopher, he has gained over 100 new brothers by signing with Houston.

Jacolby, whose favorite musical artist is Michael Jackson, enjoys playing video games and drawing.

This Signing Day event was facilitated by Boston-based nonprofit organization, Team IMPACT, whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children facing life-threatening and chronic illnesses through the power of team. Team IMPACT children are drafted on to local college athletic teams and, in effect, become official members of the team from Signing Day through to graduation, attending practices, games and social events while forming unparalleled relationships with the student-athletes and coaching staffs.

Team IMPACT is a 501(c)3 nonprofit whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children facing life-threatening and chronic illnesses through the power of team. Team IMPACT children are drafted on to local college athletic teams and, in effect, become official members of the team from Draft Day through to Graduation. At Team IMPACT, they envision a future where the lives of children facing the hardships associated with adverse issues and events will have access to expanded team-based support networks in order to significantly enhance their quality of life and to fill their lives with more love and laughter. Team IMPACT also strives to provide team-based organizations everywhere an easy and efficient way to have a powerful impact on the lives of children in their community. Established in 2011, Team IMPACT has already matched over 400 children with collegiate teams, improving the quality of life of hundreds of courageous children and touching the lives of over 10,000 student athletes.
