    Houston - University of Houston senior golfer Rian Butler shot a two-over par 74 in the third and final round to finish in a tie for 15th place with a three-round total of 11 over par at the Seventh Annual Rice Intercollegiate Golf Tournament that was played at Houston's Westside Golf Course. Butler began the tournament shooting three-over par in the first round and six over par, 78 in the first two rounds on Saturday.

    Butler was one of five Cougar golfers who competed as individuals at the Tournament. Senior Graham Veile finished with a three-round total of 237 to finish in a tie for 40th place, while Ashish Patel was two strokes back and finished tied for 49th place and Chad Marti tied for 65th place with a three-day total of 247. Sophomore Steven Frazier withdrew from the tournament after the first two rounds.

    Southeastern Louisiana's Aaron O'Callaghan won the individual championship with a three-round total of one over par 217 after winning a playoff against Harrison Moore from the College of Charleston. Moore made a 20-foot birdie put on the playoff, but O'Callaghan shot an eagle after making a 12-foot putt to clinch the championship.

    Sam Houston State was the team champion with an overall score of 900. Southeastern Louisiana was the runner-up with a team total of 905.

    Houston will host the All-American Intercollegiate Tournament on Feb. 26-27 on The Tradition Course at the Cypresswood Country Club in Houston.
