HOUSTON--University of Houston junior Ben Moser closed with a final round 3-over-par 75 to finish as the runner-up at the All-American Intercollegiate Invitational held on the Traditions Course at Cypresswood Golf Club in Spring.

Led by low-scoring finishes by Moser and senior Jordan Irwin, the Cougars shot a third-round 308, a 901 overall, to place fifth.

Other Cougar golfers in the tournament were sophomore Jackie Lindsey (230) +14, junior Steven Frazier (234) +18 and freshmen Trevor Edwards (234) +18. Both junior Brady Shivers and junior Ashish Patel competed as individuals.

The second-place finish is a career-best for Moser, a transfer from Kent State.

Middle Tennessee State won the team title with a three-day total of 891. Arkansas-Little Rock finished a stroke back with a score of 892 followed by Louisiana-Lafayette's 896 and New Mexico State's 897.

Arkansas-Little Rock's Brian Whittle captured individual title as the gold medalist ended the tournament 5-under-par. Moser took home the silver and Thomas Petts of Louisiana-Lafayette walked away as the bronze medalist.

Jacksonville State golfer, Julian Colmenares, shot a hole-in-one on the part-three third hole in the first round on Monday.

The Cougars are off next week but return to action March 14-15 in the Border Olympics at the Laredo Country Club in Laredo, Texas.
