AUSTIN, Texas - The University of Houston wrapped up its 2004-05 regular season with a 14th-place finish Tuesday after at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate at Austin Country Club.

The Cougars finished the 54-hole event with a team score of 930, to finish behind team champion Florida. Oklahoma State finished second with a score of 882, while Tulsa came in third place at 886. Texas (890), SMU (894), Oklahoma (895), Texas A&M (897), Arkansas (907), Baylor (911) and BYU (913) rounded out the team leaders.

Individually, sophomore Pablo Acuna fired an even-par 72 in the final round to finish at 11-over-par 217 and tie for 32nd place in leading the Cougar linksters. Acuna's final round was the Cougars' best score at the tournament.

Other Cougar golfers in action were: Ricky Romano (233, t-54th), Kevin Newman (234, t-57th), Jordan Irwin (239, t-69th) and Zach Mowbray (240, t-71st).

Florida's Richard Treis earned medallist honors after finishing at 4-under-par 212, five strokes ahead of Texas' Shaun Goodwin.

The Cougars will now take a break before returning to action at the Conference USA Championship on April 18-20 at Gulfport, Miss.
