AUGUSTA, Ga. - Behind senior Curtis Reed, the University of Houston Men's Golf team finished sixth Sunday afternoon after the Final Round at the 3M Augusta Invitational.

The Cougars, who are ranked No. 8 in the latest Golfstat and Golfweek, posted a team score of 295 on Sunday to finish at 866 on the 7,028-yard, par-72 course at Forest Hills Golf Club. It was only the second time during the 2013-14 season that the Cougars did not finish among the top-5 team leaders.

For the third straight round, Reed posted a score of par or better. The Castroville, Texas moved into a tie for eighth and finished at 4-under-par 212. It was a season-best finish for Reed and the eighth top-10 showing of his career.

After playing the first 10 holes with only one bogey, Reed saw a lot of action during the final eight holes. He birdied No. 11 and No. 13 with a bogey on No. 23 before three straight pars. He then sank birdies on his final two holes to cap his tournament.

Senior James Ross tied for 20th at 217, while junior Kyle Pilgrim tied for 30th at 219. Junior Roman Robledo tied for 45th at 222, and senior Wesley McClain tied for 06th at 225.

No. 7 UCF captured the team title with a score of 846 to finish one stroke ahead of No. 19 Texas. No. 13 Virginia Tech (850), No. 9 Illinois (852) and No. 27 Baylor (861) rounded out the top-5 team leaders.

Individually, UCF's Greg Eason earned medalist honors with a score of 11-under-par 205, one stroke in front of Virginia Tech's Scott Vincent. Baylor's Kyle Jones finished third at 207, while Thomas Detry (Illinois) and Toni Hakula (Texas) tied for fourth at 208.

Before returning home to Houston on Monday evening, the Cougars will enjoy one more day in Augusta, Ga. Before catching their flight, Houston will enjoy Monday's practice round at The Masters at Augusta National Golf Club.
