Golf Stand Second AtC-USA Championship

Texarkana, Ark. - The University of Houston golf team is in second place after one round of the Conference USA Championship.

Playing Sunday at the Texarkana Country Club, the Cougars posted a 6-under-par 282. Houston is five shots behind Memphis, which fired a 11-under 277, to lead all teams.

Junior Brady Shivers ,who shot his lowest round of the year, carded a first-round 4-under 68 to pace the Cougars. Shivers is tied atop of the leaderboard with five other golfers heading into the day 2.

Senior Jordan Irwin finished at 2-under-par 70, placing him in a tie for seventh. Both junior Ben Moser and sophomore Jackie Lindsey shot even-par 72's to stand tied for 16th. Junior Steven Frazier had the Cougars' non-counting score of 4-over 76 and he is tied for 43rd.

The 54-hole tournament will continue on Monday and will conclude on Tuesday. Live scoring and tee times can be found by clicking HERE.
