WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - University of Houston golfer Zach Mowbray fell into a tie for 62nd place Saturday after shooting an 81 in the second round of the NCAA Central Regional.

After firing a 39 through the first nine holes, Mowbray struggled to start the back nine posting four bogeys and a double bogey on the first five holes.

The Cougar sophomore co-captain posted a two-day score of 154 to join Jeremy Frye (Baylor), Sam Korbe (Tulsa), Blake Martin (Oklahoma), Edward McGlasson (Colorado), Andrew Price (Kansas), Shawn Stefani (Lamar) and David Tasker (Texas A&M) on the individual leaderboard.

Mowbray's appearance in the NCAA postseason marks the 16th consecutive season that a Cougar golfer or team has competed in the postseason. A year ago, Brett Callas became the second player in school history to win the NCAA Central Regional individual championship.

The three-day tournament wraps up with the final 18 holes on Saturday morning on the 7,259-yard, par-72 course at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.

Kentucky grabbed the team lead after the second day with a score of 583, two strokes ahead of Oklahoma State. Texas, Texas A&M, Purdue, Oklahoma, SMU, Wichita State, TCU, Minnesota and Kansas State rounded out the Top 11 leaders.

Individually, Kentucky's Brandon Waldrop stood in first place a 4-under-par 140 to stand two strokes ahead of Texas' Jason Hartwick.

The top 10 teams and the top 2 individuals not from those teams qualify for the NCAA Championships on June 1-4 in Hot Springs, Va.
