Mowbray Ties for 62nd Place at NCAA Central Golf Regional

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - University of Houston golfer Zach Mowbray posted a final round of 79 on Saturday to tie for 62nd place at the NCAA Central Regional.

The Cougar sophomore co-captain endured a difficult final 18 holes, recording seven bogeys during the round on the 7,259-yard, par-72 course at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Ind.

Mowbray was one of six individual invited to compete at the NCAA Central Regional. His appearance in the NCAA postseason marks the 16th consecutive season that a Cougar golfer or team has competed in the postseason.

Kentucky won the team championship with a 54-hole score of 882, 11 strokes ahead of Oklahoma State. Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Texas, TCU, Purdue, Wichita State, SMU and Kent State rounded out the Top 10 team leaders and advanced to the NCAA Championships in Hot Springs, Va., on May 27-30.

Individually, Kentucky's John Holmes captured medallist honors to finished the tournament at 2-under-par 214. He was the only golfer to shoot under par for the entire tournament.
