Golf Finishes in Tie for 10th at Cobb/Ferrell Mean Green Classic

DENTON, Texas - The University of Houston golf team posted a team score of 308 in the final round Tuesday to tie for 10th place at the Cobb/Ferrell Mean Green Classic.

The Cougars finished the two-day, 54-hole event with a team score of 914. Sam Houston and Louisiana-Lafayette each finished with team scores of 878 to tie for the championship. UALR (879), North Texas (886) and New Orleans (892) rounded out the Top-Five team leaders.

The round was delayed for about three hours due to rain on the 7,147-yard, par-72 course at Lantana Country Club.

Individually, senior Ben Moser shot a final-round 73 to finish in a tie for 15th place with a score of 221 to lead the Cougars. Competing in his first tournament as a Cougar and as an individual player, sophomore Matt Eschenburg posted a 2-under-par 70 on Tuesday to move into a tie for 46th place with teammate Brady Shivers at 233.

Other Cougars competing were Jackie Lindsey (t-26th, 226), Clark Mitzner (t-54th, 237) and Beau Davis (61st, 239).

Louisiana-Lafayette's Devin Carrey fired a 4-under-par 68 during the final round to win medalist honors with a score of 6-under-par 210 to finish three strokes ahead of Sam Houston State's Scott Kelly.

The Cougars return to action Monday when they compete at the Kansas Invitational in Lawrence, Kan. It will be the second of four tournaments in which the Cougars will compete during the fall season.
