Pebble Beach, Calif. - University of Houston senior golfer Jordan Irwin moved into a three-way tie for eighth place at the Saint Mary's Invitational after shooting one-over-par score of 145 in the first two rounds on the par 72 - 6,833-yard Poppy Hills Golf Course.

Irwin shot a two-under par 70 in the second round after opening the day shooting with a three-over par 75 in the first round.

Irwin opens the 2007 fall campaign after earning All-Region and All-Conference USA First-Team honors as a junior. He also qualified to compete as an individual at the 2007 NCAA Central Regional Championships last May.

UAB's Brad Smith, the 2007 Conference USA Newcomer of the Year, is tied with Wesley Williams of Baylor for the individual lead with a two-round total of three-under-par 141. Danny Zimmerman of Wisconsin is in third place one shot back, and Zimmerman's teammate Dan Woltman is in a three-way tie with Michael Drake of Long Beach State and Santa Clara's Jimmy Cacho with a one-under-par 143. Jordan Payne of Memphis is in seventh place after shooting an even par 144 and is in seventh place. Irwin is tied with Michigan's Graham Hille and Ian Rochester of Memphis for eighth place.

Junior transfer Ben Moser also fired a three-over par 75 in the first round to finish with eight other players for 27th place for the Cougars. However, Moser shot eight over in the second round to finish the day tied for 67th place with an 11-over-par score of 155 entering Tuesday's final round.

Steven Frazier and Jackie Lindsey are tied for 78th place after shooting over 13-over-par score 157 in the first two rounds. Junior college transfer Brady Shiver is tied for 82nd place one shot back.
