Golf in Fourth Place after First Day at KU Invitational

LAWRENCE, Kan. - University of Houston golf team stood in fourth place Monday after the first two rounds of the Kansas Invitational at Alvamar Golf Club in Lawrence, Kan. Under windy conditions throughout the day, the Cougars fired a team score of 586 to stand six strokes behind first-day leader Texas-San Antonio. Host Kansas was second at 581, while Kansas State was in third at 583. Individually, UH's Pablo Acuna fired a 72 during the morning round and finished one stroke better over the final 18 holes of the day to stand in a tie for third place with Kansas' Kevin Ward and Barrett Martens. Other Cougar scores were unavailable as of press time. Nebraska (587), Wichita State (591), Northern Iowa (598), Illinois State (603), Oklahoma City (605) and Missouri-Kansas State rounded out the Top 10 team leaders in the 13-team field. The tournament concludes with the final 18 holes, scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday.
