Golf Finishes 12th at The Club Glove Intercollegiate

SOMIS, Calif. - University of Houston golfer Denton Walker fired an even-par 72 in the final round to tie for 13th place at The Club Glove Intercollegiate on Tuesday. Walker finished the 54-hole event with a score of 5-over-par 221 on the 6,858-yard, par-72 course at Saticoy Country Club in Somis, Calif. As a team, the Cougars fired a team score of 307 in Tuesday's final 18 holes to finish 12th with a total of 917. Host Pepperdine claimed the team title with a score of 871, 11 strokes ahead of Arizona State. Tulsa finished third at 886 with Colorado State and Kansas rounding out the Top Five team leaders. Individually, Pepperdine's Michael Putman and Tulsa's David Inglis tied after 54 holes at 1-under-par 215 with Putman winning medallist honors in a playoff. On the Cougar scoreboard, freshman Ricky Romano finished in a tie for 23rd place at 10-over-par 226. Other UH linksters at the event included Zach Mowbray (230, t-38th), Jordan Hasbrouck (240, t-58th) and Daniel Angenscheidt (245, 62nd). The Cougars will take about a month off now before returning to action Nov. 6-7 at the Del Walker Invitational.
