MANY, La. - The University of Houston junior varsity golf team fired a team score of 304 on Tuesday during the second of the Battle at the Bend to move into a tie for seventh place after the second day.

The Cougars, who were in 10th place entering Tuesday's round, posted a team score of 606 through the first 36 holes to tie with Nicholls State on the 6,707-yard, par-72 course at Cypress Bend Golf Resort.

New Orleans stood atop the team leaderboard at 567 entering Wednesday's final round. Rice was second at 577 and was followed by Southeastern Louisiana (581), Tulane (586), host Louisiana-Lafayette (590) and Sam Houston State (591).

Stephen F. Austin (607), Texas State (611) and McNeese State (611) rounded out the Top 10 team leaders.

Individually, freshman Todd Bissenden posted a 2-over-par 74 in the second round to finish at 150 through 36 holes and tie for 24th as the Cougars' leading player. Senior Adam Young was tied for 34th at 152.

Other Cougars in action were Steven Frazier (154, t-42nd), Jeremy Reed (154, t-42nd) and Brett Burke (157, t-53rd).

Rice's Parker LaBarge remained atop the individual leaderboard after shooting a 69 for the second straight day and was two strokes ahead of Louisiana-Lafayette's Michael Smith and Matthew Carvell of Southeastern Louisiana.

The tournament, which will be the final fall event of the season for the Cougars, wraps up Wednesday morning with the final 18 holes.
