WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. - The University of Houston golf team will be riding a wave of momentum Monday when they compete during the first two rounds of the Cleveland Golf Classic at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif.

The Cougars, who join an impressive field, will play 36 holes Monday, starting at 9:30 a.m. (CST). The tournament wraps up with the final 18 holes, beginning at 9:30 a.m. (CST) Tuesday.

Live stats for the tournament can be accessed through www.usctrojans.com or www.golfstat.com.

UH recorded a season-best third-place team finish on Feb. 3-4 at the Waikoloa Intercollegiate while shooting a 7-under-par 849. Senior John Wine tied for fourth in the individual standings after shooting a 208, including a career-best 68 in the final round.

Freshman Zach Mowbray, who has finished among the Cougars' top two leaders in each of the last two tournaments, leads the team with a 72.9 scoring average, one stroke better than his closest competitor on the team.

The field at the event includes host USC, Arizona State, BYU, California, Fresno State, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Oregon, Oregon State, Pepperdine, San Diego State, Stanford, Tennessee, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara and Washington.

A year ago, the Cougars finished 12th of 16 tournaments at this event. Senior Brett Callas led the Cougars with a score of 8-over-par 221 to tie for 20th place.
