SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - The University of Houston golf team will compete at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational on Friday.

UH will play 36 holes on Friday and the last 18 holes Saturday on the 7,037-yard, par-72 course at the ASU Karsten Golf Course.

The Cougars come into the tournament off a 13th-place finish at the National Invitational Tournament where senior John Wine tied for 20th-place and now leads the Cougars with a 74.0 scoring average.

The Cougars join a competitive field that includes Arizona, host Arizona State, BYU, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Oregon State, Pepperdine, San Diego State, Stanford, Texas, Conference USA rival TCU, UCLA, UNLV, USC and Washington State.

Texas won the team competition last year while Bret Guetz of TCU took home the individual honor.

This is the last tune-up before the Cougars compete at the Conference USA Championships, which will be held in Tampa, Florida.
