Houston's Steven Frazier Stands In Second Place at the PGA Minority Collegiate Championship

Port St. Lucie, Fla. - University of Houston sophomore Steven Frazier is in second place with a one-over-par score of 145 through the first two rounds of the 2007 PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championships.

Frazier, who shot a three-over-par 75 in the second round after opening the tournament with a two-under-par 70, is three shots back of Oregon State's Steve Johnson who leads the independent division with a two-under-par 142 total. Johnson shot an even par 72 in the second round after equaling Frazier's first round score of 70. Willie Mack of Bethune-Cookman and Anthony Romero of New Mexico State Professional Golf Management School are tied for third place at 149, while Romero's teammate James Stewart is in fifth place one shot back.

Florida A&M stormed atop the leader board in the Division I Team standings with a two-day total of one-under par 575. The Rattlers are six shots ahead of defending champion Texas-Pan American.

Over 170 contestants from 36 colleges and universities, representing 13 countries comprise the field for the 21st Annual PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship. Played on the PGA Golf Club's Ryder and Wanamaker Courses, the 54-hole tournament is divided into four team divisions- men's I and II, men's NAIA and a women/s.

Frazier is one of 25 men's collegiate players competing in an independent division that is open to students who are African American, Hispanic American, Native or Alaskan American, Asian or Pacific Island American. There are also 13 women's individual players competing in the tournament.

The Championship concludes after the third round tomorrow, May 13. State Farm Insurance and The Golf Channel have combined to produce a one-hour Championship highlight programs, which will air on June 6 at 2:00 P.M. CDT and on June 23 at 3:00 P.M. CDT.
