Roman Robledo Named to All-Central Region Men's Golf Team

Sophomore Roman Robledo

May 28, 2013

HOUSTON - University of Houston sophomore Roman Robledo added another honor to his trophy case Tuesday afternoon when he was named to the PING All-Central Region Team.

This was the latest award for Robledo during a successful 2012-13 campaign. In late April, the Harlingen, Texas, native drained a 30-foot birdie putt on the 72nd and final hole to clinch the individual title for himself and the team championship for the Cougars for the first time since 2001.

He became the first Houston student-athlete to win an outright, 54-hole tournament title since Jordan Irwin won the Kansas Invitational on Sept. 17-18, 2007.

Robledo, who was named to the All-Conference USA First Team, competed in all but one tournament, posting four top-10 and seven top-20 individual finishes. He finished second among the Cougars with a 73.21 scoring average and posted a career-low 65 in the second round at the Conference USA Championships on April 22, tying for the lowest mark by a Cougar at any conference postseason event.

A total of 155 players across six regions - Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West - earned All-Region honors in 2013.
