Houston Cougar Golf Camp

HOUSTON - The University of Houston Men's and Women's Golf programs will host a pair of Summer Camps at the Golf Club of Houston, and interested players are encouraged to register soon as space is limited.

The first camp will run July 25-27 with another camp to follow Aug. 15-17 at the Golf Club of Houston (formerly Redstone Golf Club) in Humble, Texas. Both camps are open to boys and girls, ages 8-18. However, each camp is limited to only 16 players, so interested campers should reserve their places soon.

Camp begins at 9 a.m., and runs until 4 p.m., each day. The cost to participate in each camp is $725.

Campers will learn all aspects of the game, including long game, short game, putting, bunker play and the all-important mental aspects. They will receive instruction from top coaches in Houston on course management techniques, drills and other situations.

Interested campers can register on-line at HoustonGolfCamp.com. Campers also can mail their payments to University of Houston Golf, 3100 Cullen Blvd., Rm 2011, Houston, TX 77204.

Checks or money orders should be made payable to University of Houston Golf.

Campers will receive hands-on instruction from top collegiate coaches, student-athletes and high school coaches with a 4-to-1 coach-to-camper ratio.

Participants also will have a chance to work inside the Dave Williams Golf Academy at Redstone Golf Club. The home for Houston Men's and Women's Golf features four indoor/outdoor hitting bays with the latest technology, including a Launch Monitor for players to practice length, dispersion and trajectories of any shot.

In addition, a SAM PuttLab can take ultrasound measurements of the putting strokes and displays information in simple graphic reports. A 3-dimensional biomechanical measuring system helps refine the way a player's body should properly move during a golf swing.

At the end of camp, campers will leave with individual game plans for player development, which includes Aimpoint green reading techniques, short game development and TPI fitness.

In addition, each camper will receive a goodie bag with a camp photo.
