Men's Golf Adds Tournament to Fall Schedule

Four Cougars will compete as individuals at the HBU Husky Invitational. That tournament tees off with an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start Monday with 36 holes scheduled on the 7,002-yard, par-71 course at Woodforest Golf Club. The 54-hole event wraps up with another 8:30 a.m. shotgun start with the final 18 holes Tuesday morning.

Senior Wesley McClain has appeared in two tournaments in this fall, tying for 29th at the season-opening Northern Intercollegiate earlier this month. A year ago, the Diboll, Texas, native was an All-Conference USA Second-Team honoree.
Senior Bryn Flanagan will make his season debut in 2013-14. A year ago, the Krugersdorp, South Africa, native competed in seven events with three top-10 finishes, including a fifth-place showing at the Border Olympics.
Freshman Matt Scobie made his collegiate debut at the season-opening Northern Intercollegiate earlier this month. The Ajax, Ontario, Canada finished 84th with a score of 247.
Redshirt freshman Emmett Oh will make the first appearance of his collegiate career at the HBU Husky Invitational. The Calgary, Alberta, Canada walked onto the team a year ago out of Central Memorial.
The Cougars will compete against teams from Florida Atlantic, UALR, Stephen F. Austin, Abilene Christian, New Orleans, McNeese State, Incarnate Word, Louisiana-Monroe, Nicholls State, North Dakota, Texas-Pan American, Northwood and host Houston Baptist.

Following the HBU Husky Invitational, the Cougars wrap up their fall season when they compete at the David Toms Intercollegiate, hosted by LSU. That tournament will be held Saturday and Sunday at The University Club in Baton Rouge, La.
From there, Houston will take several months off from their schedule before opening the spring season on Feb. 21-23 at its own Bayou City Collegiate Championship at Redstone Golf Club.
