PEARLAND, Texas – The University of Houston Men’s Golf program continues its fall season when it tees off Monday morning for the first day of the Bayou City Collegiate Classic at Golfcrest Country Club.

The Cougars join with Rice and Sam Houston State as hosts for this event, which begins with 36 holes Monday and continues with the 18 final holes Tuesday on the 7,254-yard, par-72 course.

Play begins at 8:30 a.m., Monday with a shotgun start, while Tuesday’s Final Round begins with an 8 a.m., split-tee start off No. 1 and No. 10.
Now in his ninth season at Houston, Director of Golf Jonathan Dismuke recently unveiled the team’s starting lineup for its second fall tournament of the season.

Senior Michael Perras, sophomore Zach Tracy, freshman Alexander Frances, senior Papito Gonzalez and junior Matt Williams will represent the Cougars’ team starting lineup.

Senior Alan De Bondt and sophomores George Gardner and Tony Gill will compete as individuals.

The tournament features 15 teams, including fellow hosts Rice and Sam Houston State as well as Abilene Christian, Arkansas State, Houston Baptist, Lamar, Lipscomb, Little Rock, Nebraska, SMU, Southern Miss, Texas State, UT Arlington and UTSA.

The Cougars opened the 2017 fall season by tying for seventh with American Athletic Conference rival UCF at The Jackrabbit at The Prairie Club in Valentine, Neb. According to the best Houston records, it was the first time that Houston competed in the state of Nebraska.

Perras, the 2017 American Athletic Conference Championships medalist, opened that tournament with a 1-under 71 and lowered his score by at least two strokes each day, with a sparkling 65 in the Final Round. With his last-day total, the Deer Park, Texas, native surged into a tie for 3rd at 11-under 205.

Tracy, Gonzalez and Williams each tied for 28th at 3-under 213 with Williams shooting 1-under 71 for three straight days.

Following the Bayou City Collegiate Classic, the Cougars compete at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate. That two-day, 54-hole tournament will be played Oct. 23-24 at Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas.
