UH Golf Team Finishes Eighth At Red River Classic
DALLAS, Texas - The University of Houston golf team shot a nine-over par
297 to finish in eighth place among a field of 15 teams Tuesday afternoon at
the Red River Classic Tournament in Dallas, Texas. The Cougars were 20 shots
off the lead of lead of tournament champion USC (848, -16) after 54 holes at
the Dallas Athletic Club.
Houston was led on the by All-America candidate Andy Sanders, who shot a nine-under par 207 for the three rounds to finish three strokes off the lead of individual champion Hunter Mahan (USC, 204, -13). Sanders birdied two of the last three holes for a final round score of 71 Tuesday, tying for third place overall in a field of 84. The Cougar golf team will next be in action at the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama, on October 16 and 17.
