CHOUDRANT, La. - The University of Houston golf team will compete in its fourth tournament of the fall season Monday when it begins play at the Squire Creek Intercollegiate.

The Cougars join a competitive field at Squire Creek Golf Course, including host Louisiana Tech, Arkansas State, Arkansas-Little Rock, McNeese State, Nebraska, Nicholls State, North Texas, Oral Roberts, Rice, Sam Houston State, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern Miss, Stephen F. Austin and Texas-Arlington.

The tournament begins with 36 holes Monday, starting at 8 a.m. The final 18 holes will be played with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday.

Junior captain Zach Mowbray and sophomore Ricky Romano are tied for the team lead with a 73.4 scoring average. Romano is the only Cougar to rank among the team's Top Two individual leaders at each of the three fall tournaments to date.

Sophomore Pablo Acuna, who finished third at the Kansas Invitational on Sept. 21, is a close third with a 73.8 average.

Freshman Jordan Irwin also is expected to compete for the Cougars with the fifth member of the UH lineup to be determined as of press time. UH comes into the tournament after finishing 12th at the Club Glove Intercollegiate in Somis, Calif., last weekend.

This tournament will be the fourth of five fall tournaments for the Cougars. UH wraps up its fall season Nov. 4-5 at the Del Walker Invitational in Long Beach, Calif.
