DALLAS – The University of Houston Men’s Golf returns to action Monday when it tees off at the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate at Royal Oaks Country Club.
The Cougars will play 36 holes Monday, beginning at 8:15 a.m., with the final 18 holes set for Tuesday.
Fans can follow live scoring from the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate by visiting Golfstat.com and following the appropriate links or by clicking here.
For the first time, the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate features a unique format with its lineup. Each team in the field will play together in their own group with their other team members. As a result, fans can watch all five Cougars compete in the same group each day.
In most college tournaments, teams compete in groups of three or four with one student-athlete from each team playing with one representative from the other teams.
Under the leadership of ninth-year head coach Jonathan Dismuke, the Cougars will be represented by senior and 2017 American Athletic Conference Championships medalist Michael Perras, junior Matt Williams, senior and 2017 All-American Athletic Conference performer Papito Gonzalez, senior Alan De Bondt and sophomore Zach Tracy.
Sophomore George Gardner will compete as an individual.
The Cougars will tee off No. 11 at 8:15 a.m., Monday, and begin the afternoon session on No. 11 as well following morning play.
The Cougars will compete in a 13-team field against host and seventh-ranked Baylor, No. 14 Kent State, No. 17 Arkansas, No. 50 Pepperdine, Charlotte, Iowa, Liberty, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, SMU and UTSA.
LAST TIME OUT
Competing as a co-host, the Cougars fired back-to-back sub-par rounds over the final 36 holes and tied for third at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic with a score of 2-under 864 at Golfcrest Country Club in Pearland, Texas.
Williams posted three straight sub-par rounds for the second straight tournament to open the season and tied for fifth at 4-under 212. Perras enjoyed three consecutive rounds of even-par 72 and tied for 14th at 216.
Following the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate, the Cougars close out their fall season with a trip west when they compete at the Ka’anapali Collegiate Classic on Oct. 23-24 at Ka’anapali Golf Club in Lahaina, Maui, Hawai’i.
From there, the Cougars will take a break before opening the spring season at their own All-American Intercollegiate on Feb. 16-18, 2018, at Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas.
