Houston- University of Houston All-Americans Nick Decker and junior Rhian Clarke won the men's high jump and women's pole vault at the Houston Invitational Indoor Track and Field meet on Saturday at the Bill Yeoman Field House.

Decker tied John Munoz of Southwest Texas State in the high jump as both jumpers finished the meet with leaps of 7 feet, 1 inch. It was Decker's first meet of the 2001 indoor season.

Houston's four-time Conference USA high jump champion Jeff Mueller finished fourth in the event with a mark of 6-11.

Sophomore Robert Foster also had a second place finish in the 200 meters for the Cougars as he finished with a time of 21.61 seconds. TCU's Darvis Patton edged Foster in the 200 as he won the race in 21.11 seconds.

Meanwhile, in the women's division, Clarke won the pole vault and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships with a mark of 13' 1.50" to beat April Stiner of Arkansas, who also finished with a mark of 13' 1.50". Freshman Jasmin Jackson also turned in her best long jumping performance of the season for the Lady Cougars as she finished third with a season-best leap of 18' 10.50". Alice Falaiye of Rice won the women's long jump with a mark of 19' 11.75", while Natasha Coleman of Southeast Louisiana finished second with 19' 1.25"

Senior All-American Jenny Adams was upset in the 100-meter hurdles by Nicole Hoxie of Texas. Adams had the fastest qualifying time in the prelims with 8.40 seconds. But, Hoxie won the finals with a time of 8.17 seconds to edge Adams, who finished the race in 8.31 seconds.

Senior Vanessa Zavaletta finished fourth in the women's weight throw for the Lady Cougars with a throw of 50' 3.50".

Texas won the women's team championship with 117 points, while Rice was second with 63 points. Houston's injury-depleted squad finished ninth with 32 points.

TCU won the men's team title with 89 points, while Texas was second with 79 points and Texas A&M scored 74 points to finish third. Houston finished ninth with 24 points.
