Houston, Texas - University of Houston head track and field coach Leroy Burrell announced that Ronald Broadnax of Seguin High School has a national letter of intent with the Cougars for the 2002 season.

Broadnax finished second in the 110-meter hurdles at the 2000 Texas Class 5A State Championships with a time of 13.66 seconds. His time at the state meet ranked sixth overall nationally and was the fourth fastest time listed among high school performers by Track and Field News. Broadnax was the only junior listed among the top 10 by Track and Field News.

This season, his best time is a manual time of13.8 seconds. He had the third fastest time (13.99) in the preliminaries of 110-meter hurdles at the 2001 Texas Relays on April 4-7, but fell down in the finals and finished ninth.
