    Dale Jones

    Dale Jones begins his fourth season with the UH Athletics Department. He is responsible for the speed, strength, flexibility, nutrition and conditioning of all Cougar players.

    In addition to his strength and conditioning duties, Jones also serves as an adjunct lecturer for the Health and Human Performance Department. He also has worked as a senior advisor for strength and conditioning at The Edge Extreme in Flower Mound, Texas. He also has been a speaker at several strength and conditioning and sports-specific coaches' clinics.

    Jones joined the UH Athletics Department in 2001 after teaching weightlifing instruction in the Kinesiology Department at the University of Houston for a year. In 2003, he received his master's degree in exercise science from UH. He also served as the head trainer and director of operations at The Exchange Athletic Club in Dallas, beginning in 1998.

    Prior to that, he served as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at North Texas during the 1997-98 season and was a volunteer strength and conditioning coach at SMU in 1997.

    He earned his bachelor's degree in exercise physiology with magna cum laude honors from Washburn in 1994. In addition, he was recognized as the 1994 Physical Education Major of the Year and the NASPE Physical Education Major of the Year.

    As a student at Washburn, Jones worked closely with the men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball and softball teams and helped develop strength programs for student and university staff.

    Jones is a strength and conditioning coach certified by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association. He also is a certified strength and conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and is a certified Sports Performance Coach by USA Weightlifting. He is married to the former Nicole Sommer. The couple lives in Pearland.
