Women's Basketball falls to Louisville 50-49

The Lady Cougars Suffered their first conference loss on Sunday losing to Louisville 50-49 in a tight affair that was settled in the final seconds.
Louisville was leading 45-42 when Sancho Lyttle stole the ball away from Louisville's Missy Taylor, who procedded to foul Lyttle. Lyttle hit both free-throws to cut Cardinal lead to two. Then with 1:31 left to play, Lyttle was fouled again and went back to the line to sink both shots to tie the game at 47.
Louisville's Katie Olson (3-9 FG) hit a jumper with 56 seconds to play giving UL the lead once again. KiKi Harris responded with a running jumper to tie the game again with 33 seconds to play.
Unfortunately, Harris was called for a foul against Louisville's Angel Bradley, sending Bradley to the line to shoot two with 3.3 seconds left on the clock. Bradley sank her second shot to put the Lady Cardinals up,50-49, but the Lady Cougars didn't get a shot off at the final seconds.
Lyttle posted her 15 double-double on the season, making it 10 in a row for her. She had 15 points and 12 rebounds. Freshman Kadi Creel had a huge game for the Lady Cougars with 10 points. Harris finished the game with nine points and six boards.
Turnovers were a key factor in the game, Houston had a total of 15 while Louisville recorded 18. Houston converted 11 points off those turnovers,and Louisville banked 14 from UH's miscues. Both teams had trouble getting the ball into the hoop as Houston was 34.7 % shooting from the field and Louisville was 34.5% overall.
The Lady Cougars return home on Sunday Jan. 30, 2005 to face TCU. The game is at Hofheinz pavilion at 2 pm CST.
