HOUSTON, Texas - A 9-2 Tulane run in the closing three minutes of the game handed the University of Houston women's baskeball team its third-straight loss, a 61-54 setback in Conference USA action at Hofheinz Pavilion Friday.

Houston (6-11, 4-3 C-USA) tied the game up at 52 apiece following a steal and fast-break layup by Nakazi Glover (Brookshire, Texas/Bellaire HS) with 3:35 to go. On the ensuing possession, Tulane's Ashley Langford drained a three-pointer that started the game-closing run. Langford was 1 for 9 on the evening before draining the three. The Green Wave (9-7, 3-4 C-USA) took advantage of a UH turnover to push the advantage to five, 57-52, with 1:54 left.

A jumper from UH's Tye Jackson (Houston, Texas/Westfield HS/Purdue) at the 1:19 mark pulled Houston within three at 57-54, but UH missed its final three attempts, closing out a 34-percent (22 for 64) shooting performance. UH was 6 for 24 (.250) from behind the arc and took only four free throws in the game, with Glover connecting on both pairs.

Glover earned her first-career double-double with a 16-point, 10-rebound affair. The 10 boards are a career best. Jackson finished with 14 points, the only other Cougar in double digits.

Two Tulane played, Jami Montagnino and Dominique Philpots, tied for the team lead with 12 points. Philpots also tied for the team lead in rebounding, pulling down nine boards along with Alendra Brown.

The Cougars are back in action Sunday with a 2 p.m. CST showdown with UTEP on the line at Hofheinz.
