Box Score

HOUSTON - All American Chandi Jones tied a career high 39 points Sunday afternoon as the University of Houston Lady Cougars edged the Tulane Green Wave 83-78 in three overtimes at Hofheinz Pavilion.

The three overtimes was a first for the Lady Cougar program and the win in extra time gives Houston a 2-1 record in overtime games this season. The victory boosts Houston's record to 19-3 and 8-1 in Conference USA play.

Jones nailed a three pointer with 25 seconds remaining in the third overtime to give Houston a five point cushion, then stole the ball with 12 seconds remaining to seal the win for the Lady Cougars. She also added seven rebounds, five steals and five assists in 53 minutes played, the most of any player from either team.

"I'm just glad we came away with a win," Jones said. "Winning the game in three overtimes was really big for our team because it taught us that we can pull out tough games."
