Houston Interim Head Coach- Wade Scott

Opening Statement

"We left too many points on the table in the first half. Missed too many easy shots. Missed too many free throws. Turned the ball over for the first time in about four games; 22 times. We were there on some of the shots, but Tyler (Scaife) is a really good player, and she got hot, and she was hard to stop. It forced us to change our defense. For the most part, we left too many points on the table."

On what it was about the Rutgers' defense that forced the turnovers

"They put a lot of pressure on us, and we didn't make great decisions. We tried to go over the top of their big kids. Those kids are quick. We weren't strong with the ball when we did penetrate. We let them knock it out of our hands. Decision making, but you have to give a lot of credit to them."

On getting the ball inside more in the second half

"We tried to get it in there in the first half, but we were just pass, pass, pass. Against that zone you have to penetrate and kick. We should have penetrated one more time and taken it inside. In the first half we were probably on the perimeter too much and not enough inside. In the second half, we got it inside and got a few more points."

On the frustrations of the season

"It's not the way we envisioned it when we got together in October, but these kids work hard. They're out there trying. They haven't thrown in the towel, or done anything like that. They're great kids. Sometimes the ball goes in, and sometimes it doesn't. It went in for us on Saturday, and today it didn't go in as much."

Senior Forward- Yasmeen Thompson

On her play in the second half

"I was more into it mentally, and my teammates found me when I was moving to the basket."

On what went wrong

"For me, I wasn't starting strong in the first half. We need to communicate more and attack."
