    Final Stats

Greenville, N.C.- - Senior guard Chandi Jones scored 21 points to lead the University of Houston women's basketball team to a 73-65 victory at East Carolina. Jones, who became the all-time career-scoring leader in Conference USA, scored 18 of her points in the second half when the Lady Cougars overcame a 27-26 halftime deficit. Houston trailed 61-57 with 3:58 left to play when Jones made two free throws. Sancho Lyttle, who finished with 18 points and 15 rebounds, tied the score with a lay-up on Houston's next possession. The Lady Cougars took a 64-61 lead when Jones nailed a three-point field goal from the left wing. After Keisha Anthony pulled East Carolina within 64-63 on a lay-up, Jones was fouled and hit two free throws to extend Houston's lead to 66-63. Courtney Willis, who led East Carolina with 21 points, scored a lay-up to pull East Carolina to within 64-63. But, that is as close as the Pirates would get as Nicole Oliver made two free throws with 30 seconds left and KiKi Harris added four more free throws in the final 13 seconds to seal the victory. The victory improves Houston's overall record to 21-3 and the Lady Cougars are assured of at least a tie for first place in the Conference USA standings with a 10-1 league record.
