Houston Interim Head Coach- Wade Scott
"They were good. I thought they were good in the second half. The first half I thought they were good. They are playing short-handed right now with some kids that are injured. I know Breanna Stewart gets three fouls in the first half but they're good, they're legit."
On the play of Jessieka Palmer
"I was pleased with Jess, we got her playing a different role that she is not accustomed to right now, that being a point guard, which is just something for us to work on in practice, but overall I was proud of Jess. She stood up and she did what she thought she could do and I have no regrets. I mean I love the way she played."
On the play of Te'onna Campbell
"Te'onna is a warrior. If she were a gladiator she would be Maximus because the girl just bounced. You've got to be pleased with that kid. I mean she made some mistakes, but I can live with them."
On the play of Taylor Gilbert
I was pleased with Taylor, she came in, she's got great hands, she made some great catches, finished twice around the basket, we could shore up that defense a little bit, but she is going to be ok. I thought Taylor did very well coming in and playing against the number one team in the country."
On the team goals
"I think our goal is the same as always. Our goal is to win number one and number two our goal is to play as hard as we can and to play as a team. Those are our three goals right there."
Houston Sophomore Guard- Jessieka Palmer
On playing a new role on the team
"Being in a new role is different but coach told me he needed me to run point so I had to step up and accept the challenge and do what I could to get my team through."
On playing Connecticut twice this season
"They are a good team like coach said they're pretty legit. There's not too many things that they don't do well, so playing them is a challenge, but I felt like my team did the best they could."
UConn Head Coach- Geno Auriemma
On being more aggressive in the second half
"The first 20 minutes were pointless. It's just another example, another reminder no matter how many plays you make or how many games you play. There's always going to be days where you can't get into any sort of rhythm, and you can't connect with each other. There was no flow to the offense, there was very little going on. The second half was way better. In the first two to three minutes in the second half you could tell it was different, and it carried over to the rest of the game."
On if the slow flow was human nature
"Yeah I think so, Stewie (Breanna Stewart) didn't look like the best player in the country. This is that time when the guys who have the most invested in your team, know they have to play great. They know they have a limited number of games left. Bria (Hartley) and Stefanie (Dolson) are going to be there every night. They don't have bad days, they don't have mental lapses, they don't get themselves in any kind of a funk. When you're a senior at Connecticut that's not who you are. The younger guys its human nature for them."
On what was said at halftime
"At halftime we talked about some of the things I just mentioned. You have to play regardless of whom you're playing, where you're playing or what time of day. If you're going to put your sneakers on and go on the court, you have to play. Sometimes by human nature you go, hey `we're going to win what's the point?' Well there is a point. If there wasn't we should've called them up, and said listen we beat you by this much last time, why don't we just make the score the same exact thing and call it a day. If you're going to come down here to play, you have to play. With the exception of the two seniors I don't think we did that today."
