Houston Interim Head Coach- Wade Scott

    Opening Statement

"I thought our kids played hard at times, but we made a lot of mental errors at times. Had a few breakdowns at crucial times but I'm proud of the effort they gave. I hate to send the seniors out with a loss for their last home game but I'm proud of the way they played."

On whether he felt like the team had some good shots

"I don't know if we got every shot that we wanted but I thought we had enough good shots out there. I thought Jesseika Palmer had three great looks but didn't convert on any of them. We did a good job of penetrating and then kicking out but we weren't ready to shoot it. For the most part I thought most of the shots were decent. We had a few that were probably a little out there but for the most part we got the shots we were looking for."

On what the seniors and their families mean to the team

"Personally they're great, they're a great group of seniors. These kids make my job fun, great personalities and always ready to work especially these two (Campbell & Texada) and Y.T (Yasmeen Thompson) and Mae (Woods) as well. They all have tremendous work ethic. For this program, they've come in and done what we've asked them to do. Even though it hasn't showed up in the win-loss coverage, they have all helped us get better."

    Houston senior forward- Te'onna Campbell

    On senior day

"It was an emotional day. Nobody knows that my parents have never seen me play in college, they've seen me play in high school, but this was their first college game. So it was just something that I wanted to leave them with, but it was a good senior game."

    On what went wrong

I felt like we should have taken over the game at the times that we could have, the three-minute mark of the first half, later on in the second half when they were getting hyped. Ariel Hearn was missing stuff, but she was still bringing that energy and the rest of the team fed off of it. If she didn't do something right then she would try to do something right the next time, so I felt like we should have tried to shut her down a little bit and just control their tempo because they owned the tempo in the second half."

    Houston senior forward- Destini Texada

    On senior day

"I think it was just another game, we have more games after this. We have one more game and then we have tournament games. Coming out it wasn't really emotional for me because I know that I have to play and I don't play well when I'm emotional, so I tried to stay focused. As far as the game, I think that we had a lot of mental lapses and if it weren't for those, I think we would have won this game. We were down four points and we couldn't score just because the mental lapses, instead of just being focused and knocking down the shots."
