HEAD COACH Todd Buchanan
"First of all I would really like to give credit to Coach Keitha and the Miners. They did an incredible job tonight. The crowd and the atmosphere were unbelievable. Kudos to UTEP.
"As far as this team, I couldn't be more proud. We find a way. We find a way with a refuse-to-lose mentality. I was probably a really bad coach in the first half. I probably didn't keep my poise as much as I should have. But we talked about that, and we regrouped during halftime. And I feel that is what really repaid the dividends at the end. We played like a championship basketball team.
"There's multiple ways to win. From day one of me getting the job, we were going to have a mindset that every time that we went into the basketball game, there was more than one mentality. And that is what NCAA basketball is; that's what post season is and that's what championship basketball is all about."
About losing his poise
"I'm an emotional guy. I'm not going to change; that's who I am. What we have to understand is that the biggest thing was the officiating part of it, and I'm not commenting on if it was bad or good. I'm just saying that they draw and the kids draw off me to really be a leader. That's what you're supposed to do when you're a head coach, and there were times when I should've kept my mouth shut a little more and let the game go. I'm a competitor. They know that. They know I will get after it. What's done is done. I am trying to get better every single day, just like how I am asking them to get better."
SENIOR FORWARD Courtney Taylor
What happened on the foul with 29 seconds left
"After I got fouled, I went to the line and had to think about it because obviously, my free throws weren't falling tonight like they used to. I stepped up and knocked them down, thank God. I thought she got me and they made the call, so I'm happy about it."
SENIOR FORWARD Lesslee Mason
On the atmosphere in the gym
"It was pretty intense. We knew it would be crazy in there, and our experience kicked in. We're excited for those types of games. We want it to be filled; we want the capacity. It's even better when we come out with the win."
UTEP HEAD COACH KEITHA ADAMS
"When you are involved in a ballgame like that with such a high level of intensity, I don't know if I will sleep tonight. That thing was rocking in there. It was a great, great basketball game. The other thing I would like to say that is the most important is that I am extremely proud of our team. We have really faced a lot of challenges this year and a lot of adversity. It has been a long season. We had four players that we lost to injury that would have played a big part in the equation. We lost some really tough games and close games kind of like tonight and there was many opportunities this year. We could have fallen apart and dismantled, throw in the towel, turned on one another and the thing that this group did that I really respect them for is they just kept fighting."
On her response if anyone said UTEP had a disappointing season
"I think this season was a challenging season for our team. The team did not disappoint me, they didn't disappoint each other and they did not disappoint UTEP. We had a winning season with really a rebuilding year. If you think about it, we graduated quite a few folks and we ended up playing a freshmen point guard for 40 minutes a game. She has shown these last few games how she has gotten better and I am just really proud of them. It was a great game and Houston has a great team. Look what we did tonight between a No. 22 team in the country, we are just going to build off of this for the future"
On the atmosphere in Memorial Gym
"The fans were great. I think it's a great window of opportunity to show everyone in the conference what a great community we have that really supports basketball."
UTEP JUNIOR GUARD DIETRA CALDWELL
On Being Supportive
"Houston being ranked, our team came out with a lot of fight; we listen to coach. No game is played perfect. With help of the crowd we were very supportive."
