HEAD COACH Todd Buchanan
On the team maintaining a lead in last two games
"The biggest part of it is we're maturing and understanding the `when to and when not to's'. The other side of it is at times, the level of competition and being at home. When you're playing SEC caliber teams, it's a lot more difficult. I do believe we have matured, but there's so much work to do. I really like where we're at right now, and the biggest difference has been on the defensive side. We've really guarded people and taken a personal vendetta to the defensive side of it, and we certainly have to. If you do that, you can create a lot of your offense from your defense, and I feel we're leaning more that way, but I'd like us to lean that way a lot more."
On the increase in assists
"It was a problem. We're not just going to sit here and play one-on-one basketball. I told them that if that's what they wanted to do, they were probably at the wrong place. They took it upon themselves and I'm proud of them for that. They met as a team and decided they were going to be the team that they know they can be and were going to be unselfish. The only downside of it is we had 15 in the first half and only one in the second half, but I'm a coach and I guess I'm never satisfied."
On the impact of junior forward Yasmeen Thompson
"I don't know that words can really do her justice to how much she's meant to our basketball team. Frankly, she's playing better a lot sooner than I had hoped for, and thank God she has, because we certainly need her. I'm extremely proud of her and I think her way of play rubs off on the youngsters and they feed off of it. Her play has been contagious. She has a lot on her plate but she handles it extremely well."
SENIOR GUARD Porsche Landry
On the increase in team assists
"We had a team meeting the other day. We set goals for ourselves, and that was one of them."
On first six 3-pointers of the season coming in last two games
"I'm finding my groove and getting that soft touch back. I've just been getting the rust off and have continued to practice."
JUNIOR FORWARD Yasmeen Thompson
On differences in the past two games
"We're communicating more and playing better defense. We just trust each other and are sharing the ball."
On getting two wins and building off of that
"From losing four games to getting these wins, we're trying to keep this winning streak now. We still have a lot to work on, so it's not like everything is complete now that we won."
