Recap |  Final Stats

HEAD COACH Todd Buchanan
On the defense
“I told them I didn’t want them to have more than 30 points in a half, and before halftime we held them to 20. We missed 40 by two points, but I’ll take that. If we can defend, guard, and hold people to 42 points, I’ll take that every single time.”

On junior forward Marissa Ashton
“Marissa really stepped it up out there tonight. She made some really big plays offensively and defensively. She missed some easy ones inside early, but then really got into the flow of the game. We needed that spark, and she certainly did that tonight coming off the bench. We know she’s a good player with a good skill set, but for her to come in and not put her head down after missing those shots early like she’s been known to do in the past was really huge.”

On junior center Yasmeen Thompson
“I can never foresee any time in the future where Yasmeen Thompson won’t show up. She played 37 minutes again tonight. The only thing I’m worried about is minutes, and the more she plays the antsier I get. I want to get her more around that 30 mark.”

On adjusting to her new role
“It’s good. Anything I can do to help my team. It’s not all about scoring. I just want to come off the bench and contribute.”

On approaching her role differently coming off the bench
“I’ve kept a positive attitude. I don’t have to force anything or do too much, so I come off the bench and do my job.”

On how she played in tonight’s game
“It was really just the small things. I tried to rebound and set screens. When other players got open, it gave me a chance to move, get open and take a shot.”

On the momentum of the team
“The momentum is turning and we all feel it as a team. Our confidence is high, and we are really working on fixing a few things.”
