Women's Basketball Postgame Quotes AAC Tournament Quarterfinals

    Dec. 1, 2013

    Recap |  Final Stats

    Head coach- Todd Buchanan
    Opening statement

"I think the best way to start would be how proud I am of everyone. Its kind of like I said at the end of postgame yesterday, we're trying to treat this like a three game tournament and yesterday getting the win against Kent State, we're 1-0. Now we get the win against Prairie View A&M, now we're 2-0. Obviously we have a huge challenge on our hands come Wednesday night with Washington coming to Hofheinz.

"I think our productivity was so much better today. I feel like we played so much more confident. That tells me we're getting better, growing and we're maturing. The only complaint I have is we shouldn't have had 19 turnovers. I thought our balance was as good as its been all year, from a scoring and productivity standpoint.

"I think with Destini (Texada) setting the tone with seven charges... I've told them that from day one, that's the kind of basketball, kind of things we have to do to be the team that we can be and need to be as far as being scrapy, blue-collar... The rebound margin today was phenomenal on our side."

On second half compared to the first half

"We made one simple adjustment with the screen and roll stuff, and I felt like they were coming out and hard-hedging so far out that we were extending them. In the first half we just kept trying to run the play as designed instead of just roll the screen. When we started diving the screener and bringing the other kid up to go high-low out of it, we had not only thenormal options, we had the quicker option. That's where we really made our bread and butter."

    On Te'onna Campbell

"She brings so much energy, tenacity, so many of the blue-collar things we talk about. From a leadership standpoint, I think it's come full circle with her. I don't think in 24 years I've coached a kid I'm more proud of."

    On Tyler Gilbert

"The thing you have to love about Tyler is that she is just so coachable."

    Senior guard- Te'onna Campbell
On the second half compared to the first half

"I believe the first half we were the attackers. My first two points were me attacking. I can always depend on YT (Yasmeen Thompson) and Destini (Texada) to have my back with rebounds. Everyone played their roleswith high intensity. And in the second half, we let the game come to us because we had players off the bench but I feel like they turned it up too at the end."

    Sophomore forward- Tyler Gilbert
On the second half compared to the first half

"When I first came into the game in the first half I got a charge right off and I kind of let it get to me. I wanted to help everyone out and I didn't want to let my fouls get in the way. I just wanted to focus on rebounding."
