    DENTON, Texas - Behind a dominant performance in the post by junior Sancho Lyttle the University of Houston women's basketball team notched its sixth win of the season with a 74-62 win against the North Texas Lady Eagles at the Super Pit in Denton, Texas.

    Lyttle finished with a game high 26 points on 11 of 15 shooting while grabbing 6 rebounds and picking up 4 steals.

    As a team the Lady Cougars had four players finish in double points. Lyttle lead the way while Chandi Jones added 13, Joann Overstreet scored 12 and Daphne Andre finished with 10 points in her first game with Houston.

    The Lady Cougars used a surge late in the second half to overcome a Lady Eagle lead which had grown to as much as nine points. The Houston defense which had been on and off al night locked down North Texas, allowing just 10 points in the final eight minutes of the game.

    Lyttle provided the bulk of the Lady Cougars first half offense scoring 13 of Houstons 31 points on six of nine shooting with four rebounds. Despite being out shot 47.8 percent to 48 percent in the opening half, 17 Lady Eagle turnovers helped Houston keep in the game.
