HOUSTON – Houston Cougar Women’s Basketball sophomore guard Jasmyne Harris has been named The American Athletic Conference Player of the Week for her performances against Wichita State and Tulane, the league office announced Monday.
Harris opened the week with a 26-point night against the league’s newest member, Wichita State. Harris made nine field goals in the contest, including a 4-of-8 mark from beyond the 3-point line, while pulling down a pair of rebounds and collecting three steals in the team’s 73-55 victory over the Shockers.
Four days later, Harris helped lead the charge in Houston’s thrilling 98-92 comeback victory at Tulane. Harris scored a career-high 34 points, becoming the first Cougar since Porsche Landry in 2012-13 to post multiple 30-point games in a season. Harris shot 52.4 percent (11-of-21) from the field against the Green Wave, including 6-of-8 (75.0 percent) from beyond the 3-point line. Harris also pulled down a career-high tying 11 rebounds in the game, completing the sixth double-double of her career, and also assisted on eight baskets.
