Women's Basketball Faces Road Test At UCF Thursday

HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's basketball team heads on the road for the first time in over a month, traveling to Orlando, Fla., for a Thursday night Conference USA matchup with UCF at 6 p.m. CST in the New UCF Arena.

STORYLINES

  • Houston was 4-2 on its recent homestand, which was the team's longest since playing nine-straight at home from 12/14/96-01/10/97.
  • UH (8-9, 2-1 C-USA) knocked off crosstown rival Rice by a 71-66 margin on Jan. 13.
  • The Cougars have won two-straight games and are looking for their first 3-1 start in league play since the 2005-06 season. Houston can also move its season record back to .500 with a win Thursday night.
  • Twiggy McIntyre (14.7 ppg) and Tye Jackson (12.5) lead the way for Houston.
  • McIntyre is averaging 22.3 ppg in three C-USA games and has gone 24-25 from the free-throw line (.960) during that span. She earned C-USA POTW honors on Jan. 7.
  • Jackson, who recently became the 18th player in school history to break the 1,000-point plateau, appears on watch lists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS and Naismith Awards.
  • Courtney Taylor has averaged a double-double during league play thus far (10.0/10.3).
  • UCF (7-9, 0-3 C-USA) is led by freshman forward/center Tia Lewis, the nations's second-leading rebounder (12.3 rpg). Lewis has recorded a league-best 11 double-doubles on the season.
