HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's basketball team returns home to play Southern Miss Sunday at 2 p.m. CST on Guy V. Lewis Court at Hofheinz Pavilion.

STORYLINES

  • Houston (9-9, 3-1 C-USA) snapped an eight-game C-USA road losing streak by knocking off UCF 74-61 on Jan. 17 at UCF Arena. UH (8-9, 2-1 C-USA) knocked off crosstown rival Rice by a 71-66 margin on Jan. 13.
  • Twiggy McIntyre (15.1 ppg) and Tye Jackson (11.9) lead the way for Houston.
  • McIntyre is averaging 22.3 ppg in three C-USA games and has gone 25-27 from the free-throw line (.926) during that span. She earned C-USA POTW honors on Jan. 7.
  • Jackson has averaged 6.3 assists and 5.8 rebounds per game in C-USA games.
  • Courtney Taylor has averaged a double-double during league play thus far (10.5/10.3).
  • Southern Miss (10-7, 1-3 C-USA) has dropped three-straight games after opening up C-USA play with a win over UCF on Jan. 5.
  • Houston head coach Joe Curl, who suffered a heart attack on Oct. 27, continues to recover at his Houston home. No timetable has been set for his return and assistant coach Danny Hughes will serve as the interim head coach for the foreseeable future.
  • Sunday marks the 18th meeting between the two squads.
  • Houston has won six-straight meetings at Hofheinz Pavilion.
  • Houston has won three of the last four games and seven of the last 10 matchups.
  • Southern Miss' last win in Houston came on Feb. 16, 1998, an 80-74 overtime win for the Golden Eagles.
  • Following Sunday's game, Houston will look for the season sweep against crosstown rival Rice on at 2 p.m. on Jan. 26 at Sharp Gymnasium (HBU).
  • UH will play three-straight and seven of its next nine games on the road.
