HOUSTON - After snapping out of a skid on its home court and climbing into a tie for third in the Conference USA standings, the University of Houston women's basketball team is back in action Sunday at Hofheinz Pavilion. The Cougars host SMU at 2 p.m. before the Houston men's team takes the court against Marshall at 5 p.m. in a rare men and women's doubleheader.

The Cougar women's team is coming off a 77-69 win over Tulsa on Thursday night, which improved the team's overall record to 10-9 with a 4-2 mark in C-USA games. Saturday's opponent, SMU, also boasts a 4-2 league mark to go along with its 14-5 record for the season.

Houston holds a 26-16 lead in the all-time series; however, the Mustangs have won 15 of the last 19 meetings. A year ago, the two teams split a pair of meetings with each school winning on its home court.

Junior forward Courtney Taylor, fresh off becoming the 19th member of the 1,000-point club, stands on the precipice of another major milestone needing just one double-double to tie former Cougar Sancho Lyttle for the school record with 35.

Last time out against Tulsa, the Crockett, Texas, native enjoyed a career night by scoring a personal best 31 points, while adding a game-high 11 rebounds with three blocks, three steals and two assists.

Prior to the start the 2009-10 season, Taylor was selected to the Preseason All-Conference USA team and Saturday she will square off against another member of that squad in SMU's Brittany Gilliam.

Gilliam, a senior from Garland, Texas, leads the Mustangs with a 13.9 point per game scoring average while also contributing 5.5 rebounds and 5.6 assists a contest.
